Kara joins our team from Perth, Australia, where she completed her Bachelor of Health Sciences, majoring in Public Health & Human Movement at the University of Western Australia. With a love for the biomechanics of the human body emerging at a very young age, Kara always knew that this industry was inevitable for her.
“Since I was a little girl, I’ve always been interested in how people move, both well and not so well. It wasn’t uncommon for me to be reading fitness articles and writing exercise plans while other kids were doing ‘kid stuff’. Playing in the park for me was always just an opportunity to do some lunges and pull-ups on the equipment…strange kid, I know!”
Kara definitely puts the person in personality and embodies the perfect mix of science and the Arts. In addition to her work in personal training, Kara is an actor and loves to travel, making Vancouver a natural choice when she decided to move out of Western Australia.
When it comes to staying fit, Kara herself is an avid hiker – an activity that usually starts with brunch somewhere or ends with a trip to the local brewery. A true believer in balance, Kara feels that the most important thing to remember about staying fit is that you need to find what works for you as a long-term solution.
“The fitness industry, first and foremost, is financially driven so it can be really tricky for people to sort through all the fads and hype that are constantly put out there. At the end of the day, keeping healthy is simple – it’s just not always so easy – and really all comes down to energy in vs. energy out. It’s just up to you how you do this, ’cause there ain’t just one way!”
